Blaze is a biopic of country and Western songwriter Blaze Foley, who lived in a treehouse in the 1970s with his longtime girlfriend Sybil Rosen. The film is set during the time when Foley transformed from a hippie musician to an influential singer-songwriter. 

The ensemble will be led by musician Ben Dickey, playing Foley, and Alia Shawkat, who will portray Rosen. Wyatt Russell and Steve Zahn are also among the cast.  Hawke co-wrote the script with Rosen, adapting her memoir, Living in the Woods in a Tree, for the screen.
