Coverage: Wyatt Russell Joins Disney+’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Wyatt made a surprise appearance yesterday in Disney’s Annual D23 Expo, where a presentation about the upcoming Disney+ show “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” included an announcement about him joining the cast as John Walker.
At D23, Marvel Studios executive producer Kevin Feige just announced two more stars joining the Disney+ series Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Emily VanCamp returns as Sharon Carter and newcomer Wyatt Russell will be joining the MCU as John Walker aka U.S. Patriot.
Feige introduced the two actors on stage at D23 today along with stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, who will be reprising their roles as Falcon and Winter Soldier respectively. Sharon Carter, who is Peggy Carter’s niece, featured prominently in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and briefly showed up in Captain America: Civil War.Russell is the newest addition to the series, and will be playing Walker, a government-sanctioned replacement for Captain America who has a complicated relationship with Steve Rogers’ legacy. It’s unclear how Walker will appear in the Falcon and The Winter Soldier series, and whether he will be a hero or villain. [Source]

News: Wyatt Russell Joins ‘The Good Lord Bird’ For Showtime
Grammy and Tony Award winner Daveed Diggs (Hamilton) and Wyatt Russell(Lodge 49) are for key roles opposite Ethan Hawke in Showtime’s The Good Lord Bird based on James McBride’s novel, from Blumhouse Television. The eight-part limited event series will premiere on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at 10 PM ET/PT.
The Good Lord Bird is told from the point of view of Onion (Joshua Johnson-Lionel), a fictional enslaved boy, who is part of Brown’s motley crew of abolitionist soldiers during the time of Bleeding Kansas, eventually participating in the famous 1859 raid on the Army depot at Harpers Ferry. Brown’s raid failed to initiate the slave revolt he intended, but was the instigating event that started the Civil War.
Diggs will play Frederick Douglass, the well-known orator and leader of the abolitionist movement and Union Civil War effort. Douglass works with Brown and encourages the raid on Harpers Ferry, but finds Brown’s planning and leadership style questionable and his approach dangerous, bordering on suicidal.
Russell will star in several episodes as Jeb Stuart, a federal officer with orders to apprehend John Brown (Hawke). [Source]
